Easy Health Challenges To Try Out: Part 1 - The Water Challenge

We create health challenges to give us the motivation we need to get into healthier habits we normally find difficult to get into. We all know we should be drinking more water, for example, but it seems to be easier said than done. Changing the way we think about water, however, is the key to break down the walls of apprehension and just drink more of it. Here are some of the health benefits of water to motivate you to do this month-long challenge:

1. Higher energy levels and better brain function

Drinking more water is an excellent way to give you a mental as well as a physical boost when you’re feeling low on energy. Many people prefer stimulants like coffee or energy drinks to lift them up, but it comes with a price in the form of a crash hours later. Once your body gets into the habit of intaking more water, it’ll naturally provide you with the energy you need to go about your day. Hydrating will make you more alert, and help you focus more in general.

2. Weight management

Not only is staying hydrated good for you mentally, but it can also help you manage your weight or lose weight. Since water removes fat by-products from the body and makes you feel more full, your metabolism improves resulting in a feeling better about yourself that will show!

3. Regularity

Water helps you digest food more efficiently, which, in turn, gives you a healthier digestive system. This allows for your body to break down food more, preventing possible constipation and helping you maintain regularity. Your body will most certainly thank you for it.

4. Detox

Your body naturally expels toxins through urination and sweating. Drinking more water will increase the times you urinate a day while flushing out the toxins in your body. Naturally, your body already detoxifies itself thanks to your lungs, liver, and kidneys, but by drinking more water, you can help your organs work more efficiently.

5. Skin care

Drinking water does a lot to your insides, but how about the outside? Since your skin is an organ, and water helps with organ function, it only makes sense that your skin will benefit from staying regularly hydrated. Dehydration can make your skin dry, tight and feel uncomfortable. By drinking more water, you help your skin become more resilient and less prone to wrinkles.

We hope you learned a lot more about what water does to help your body work better for you. It’s no secret that water is a miracle liquid, so let’s drink more of it!
